Adumbrated, Adumbration
Entrailed, Ombré, Shadowed, Transparency, Umbrated, Umbry

A mere shadow of a charge by a darker line or shade than the field upon which it is placed, or outlined as if the field were seen through it, the latter also termed voided.
Families who had lost their estates, but not their armorial bearings, are said to have occasionally adopted this method of indicating their peculiar position. Compare with Ajouré.
In French heraldry, ombré de lion describes a lion painted in a transparent manner such that the field or any underlying charge appears but faintly. Ombré de soleil is another French term indicating that the tincture of the sun, rather the normal metal or, is depicted in colour.

A cross entrailed, which is a cross in outline, is always sable and no thicker than a mere stroke of the pen, according to Leigh. A cross entrailed can also be a cross umbrated or shadowed by a darker outline of the same tincture as the field which, as it were, is seen through it. It is sometimes called transparent. See also Voided
Another form for the term would have the charge shaded so that it appears in relief.
