Argent

Abbreviated ar or arg.

The metal silver but generally painted white, as silver soon tarnishes and becomes black. When engraved it is represented as a plain surface. In ancient heraldry, this tincture on a nobleman's coat was called by the precious stone  Pearl, and  by the planet   Luna when on the coat of a sovereign prince.
