Clarion, Claricord, Organ Rest, Rest, Sufflue

The clarion is a highly stylised depiction of a musical instrument of doubtful form, possibly a trumpet or even the pan-pipes. Sometimes blazoned confusingly a rest and, even more confusingly, as another term for the rest, in which the tilting spear was fixed when carried on horseback. In musical terms, clarion is the name of an organ stop reproducing the sound of a trumpet.
