Contourné, Traversed
1. Reversed on the field. The term is used where a beast statant, passant, courant, etc., faces the sinister rather than the normal dexter side of the shield. The terms counter-statant, counter-passant, counter-courant, etc. are similarly used to describe this position. See Counter
2. Contourné is also the French term for decrescent when the points of the crescent point towards sinister. See Moon.
