Coptic Cross

One of the earliest crosses adopted by the Egyptian and Ethiopian Coptic churches. No specific form of this cross exists; some versions containing such variations as a cryptic plan to the site of the Ark of the Covenant whilst others incorporate hieroglyphics or pagan symbols. Of the two versions here illustrated, the first could be described as a cross in the form of four equilateral limbs all equal in size emanating from an annulet superimposed on a Cross Potent in saltire tronçonné.
