Cross Mascle, Cross of Mascles
Cross Mascled, Cross Masculy
There is a distinction between the Cross Mascle or of Mascles and the Cross Masculy or Mascled, as explained below:

Cross mascle or of mascles is formed by mascles conjoined placed in cross..
The cross masculy differs from that of mascles, in that it is properly a cross, the surface of which is formed of mascles, as the surface of the different kinds of crosses may be thus borne, as well as chequy, lozengy , fusilly, etc.

Cross of four mascles conjoined in cross.

Cross of five
mascles
being five
mascles
conjoined
in cross.

Cross mascle fruitagé.

Cross of mascles at each point a plate or cross masculy and pommelled. This blazon is a somewhat inaccurate translation of the Croix de Toulouse.
In French heraldry the Croix de Toulouse is in effect a
cross cleché borne
voided and
pommelled.
Note: Cross of mascles umbrated is when the mascles composing the cross are not borne of any particular metal or colour, but merely shadowed of a darker tint of the field.
