A cross voided and couped, by some early authors termed cross recercelé voided or  recercelé, recersile, or resarcelled disjoined. Cross disjoint is also sometimes encountered, possibly because the cross appears to be split or fracted into four parts. 

Some heralds are of opinion that the term voided can only properly apply to crosses joining the sides of the shield, or those couped from so joining, and which in the voiding have no ends. See also Cross Edged
