Extendant
Said of any bird of prey but more particularly the eagle, when borne erect, with the legs stretched out and the wings expanded or extended.
Some ancient authors also have it applicable to any beast laid open in full aspect, that is, when it stands up, and stretches out the fore-legs on each side the body, so that the full face, breast, belly and inner parts of the thighs are seen. However no arms with such a bearing appear to exist. See Displayed.
