A diminutive of the chief, being one-fourth its width. It takes the form of a narrow strip laid upon the chief, a little above its lower margin. Some ancient authors applied the term to the bordure, being likewise one-fourth its width. Fillet of bastardy has also been used erroneously for baton sinister
