Garb
Gerb, Gerbe
This term is derived from the French gerbe, meaning a sheaf of any kind of grain. When the charge is a sheaf of wheat, it is sufficient in the blazon to say garb, but when of any other grain, the kind should be expressed, as a garb of oats, etc. When the straw is of a different tincture to the ears, this also requires particular notice in the blazon, as a garb vert, eared or, that is, the ears are gold, and the stalks green. It can also be banded of a different tincture.
