In Greek mythology, there were three harpies, Aello, Podarge, and Ocypete all daughters of Electra (daughter of Oceanus not to be confused with Electra, daughter of Agamemnon). They were depicted as hideous and ravenous creatures who were sent by Zeus to snatch the food of Phineus, the king of Thrace, in punishment for predicting the future too accurately.
