Hauriant, Haurient

A heraldic term derived from the Latin ab hauriendo applied to a fish when borne palewise or upright with head to chief point, as if putting the head above water to draw or suck in the air. The term Errant is sometimes encountered in the works of ancient writers

Haurient torqued, borne palewise, but in the form of a reversed S. The term derived from torqueo, which signifies to wrest writhe, turning contrary ways in each bending.
