Increscent, Increment

A term used to express the moon in her increase from the new to the full moon; it is in fact the crescent when represented with its horns toward the dexter side of the shield. See Moon.

An increscent as  formerly painted with a profile face within the horns. However, neither the crescent, increscent or decrescent, should have a face within the horns or illumination around it, unless particularly expressed in the blazon.
