1. A small long thong of leather, with a button at the end, by which falconers (having run it through the vervels) hold the hawk fast upon the hand, folding it several times round the finger.

2. A band used to tie anything.
3. A collective term used for three bucks, foxes, hares, etc.

Lease is sometimes found in early works to describe this term.
