Clothing or piece of defensive armour for the body and arms, wrought in small close rings, called Mails, linked together as if woven in a loom. Mail, when represented in painting or engraving, is generally made like the scales of fish, that form coming nearer than any other, or best resembling the Mail. See Tegulated and Armour
