Composed of mascles; a shield or ordinary divided into lozenge-shaped compartments with voided centres and of alternate tinctures. See also Cross Masculy.

A bend mascled
When an ordinary is mascled, the outer form is not altered, but the whole surface formed into mascles. Compare with the the bend mascle, below:

A bend mascle
The bend, fess and pale mascle, which is formed of a single row of mascles placed bendwise, fessways or palewise and should terminate with half mascles.

Masculy nowy: a projection of an ordinary forming a mascle.

Masculy and Lozengy
Masculy-lozengy, or rather masculy and
lozengy, is when the
field,
ordinary
or
charge is covered over with
mascles and
lozenges alternately; or it may be blazoned by naming the
tincture
of the
lozenges, as that of the
field:
for example, supposing the
lozenges to be red and the
mascles gold, the blazon then might properly run thus, arg masculy gu
