Murrey

A dark brown colour, represented in engraving by diagonal lines from dexter to sinister and from  dexter to sinister crossing each other saltirewise.

In ancient heraldry, this colour was indistinguishable from Sanguine and, on a nobleman's coat was called by the precious stone Sardonyx and by the constellation Dragon’s Tail when on the coat of a sovereign prince.

See Tincture.
