Nowy, Nowyed
A partition line in the form of a projection, generally semi-circular, in the middle, also applied to an ordinary. Where the projection is semi-circular, it is unnecessary to mention it in the blazon, as nowy implies semi-circular. If of another shape, the particular shape must be mentioned
Fess double nowyed differs from nowy in having two semicircular projections on each side.
Fess treble nowyed, having three semicircular projections on each side.
Fess nowy urdy, has a projection on each side, like a single battlement with the top pointed.
Fess nowy lozengy, that is, with a single projection on each side in the form of a demi lozenge.
Fess nowy quadrate, sometimes called a fess single bretessed, or with one embattlement on either side.
