A field divided into four or more equal parts by perpendicular lines of alternating tinctures. The number should always be specified. See Partition Lines.

 

Paly chevronny: divided by lines in the form of chevrons intersected by paly lines.

Paly per fess or Counterpaly divides the field into an equal number of pieces palewise crossed by a line fesswise.

 

Paly-pily or rather pily-paly, is a division of the field in the form of piles, reaching from the top to the bottom.

 

Paly-bendy is composed of lines, palewise and bendwise, either dexter  or sinister, and when by the latter should be particularly expressed for, when neither dexter nor is named with the bend, the sinister is always implied.
