Potence, Potent

1. One of the heraldic furs similar to vair but with potents, or little crutches, instead of shields. Tinctures other than argent and azure must also be specified. See Tincture.

2. Cross Potent: A cross having ends that resemble the head of a crutch similar to the heraldic fur of that name.
