Quarter pierced, Quarterly pierced, Square pierced

A cross or saltire with the central square removed is blazoned a cross quarter-pierced or a cross quartered  or square-pierced . When the part removed is different from a square, the shape is described in the blazon. The crosses illustrated are blazoned:

2. a moline cross quarterly pierced

3. a cross couped and pierced round
