Rampant

Applied to a lion or beast of prey standing erect with fore paws in the air, as if attacking. The right foreleg and the right hind leg are represented higher than the left and the head in profile. Rampande and ramping are Old English terms for Rampant

Variations: Goat (Climant); Horse (Forcené).

 


Rampant extendant, displayed or in full aspect, that is, when any beast stands upright, stretching out the fore-legs on each side of the body so that the full face, breast, belly and inner part of the thighs are seen.
