Reboundant, Rebounding, Reverberant
A term formerly used in ancient heraldry for the tail of a lion, when turned up like the letter S, the end of the tail being outwards, which was called reverberant, beaten back, or reboundant, as if the animal had beaten it to his back and it had rebounded, The usual way of turning the end of the tail, in ancient times, was inwards. It is now seldom borne otherwise than outwards, and, therefore, not noted in the blazon, it being the usual way of placing the tail, which, in any other position, should be particularly expressed, as tail extended, coward, nowed, etc. See Lions Tail
