Union Flag, Union Jack
A combination of the national banners of England, Ireland and Scotland on one flag. The first Union flag combined the cross of St George (England) and the saltire of St Andrew (Scotland) when the two kingdoms were united under King James I in 1606. The saltire of St Patrick (Ireland) was added when Ireland entered the Union in 1801.

The whole is blazoned az the crosses saltire of St Andrew and St Patrick, quartered; per saltire counterchanged arg and gu the latter fimbriated of the second, surmounted by the cross of St. George of the third, fimbriated as the saltire.

The first Union flag before the saltire of St Patrick (Ireland) was added.
