Sinople

The colour green. When engraved it is represented in heraldry by diagonal lines from dexter chief to sinister  base. It was at some time called prasin and, in continental heraldry, it is termed sinople. In ancient heraldry, this colour on a nobleman's coat was called by the precious stone Emerald, and by the planet Venus when on the coat of a sovereign prince.
