A fabulous monster in the form of a two-legged dragon with wings and a serpent’s tail, generally borne nowed and barbed. When blazoned proper, the head, legs and back are vert whilst the chest, belly and inner wings gules.

Wyvern sans wings. 

Note.—It is not usual, in blazon, to describe a wyvern, etc. without wings or without legs, but sans wings or sans legs, as the case happens to be.

Wyvern’s head and wings endorsed. 

Crosses, saltires and other figures are said to be wyverned when their extremities terminate with wyverns' heads.
